Introduction

Quiligotti have acoustic floor systems that exceed the performance requirements of the latest Building Regulations for England & Wales, Document E. Systems are available both to achieve robust Details for new build houses and apartments and for pre-completion testing on refurbishment, material change of use and new build.

The system can also be used in for sports floors, providing a resilient playing surface. In these applications load bearing hardwood flooring can be fixed direct to the batten under structure.

Application

Suitable for a range of new and refurbishment projects such as residential bulldings, offices, retail, public buildings and other internal applications.

Site Installation

All systems are offered with a full and compehensive installation service. Prior to delivery and depending on the type of system specified, a site survey using a laser is carried out to determine the correct height of cradles. For other systems a prestart survey would determine the suitability of the substrate.

  • Membrane (if required) A membrane, such as 1200 gauge polythene sheeting, should be installed over all ground floor slabs and new concrete bases above ground level. Joints shall be lapped a minimum of 150mm, and should be taped and sealed with waterproof adhesive tape, with edges upturned to the same height as the tongue and grooved overlay boards at all perimeter walls.
  • Thermal and Acoustic Insulation Acoustic insulation is recommended with concrete planks and beam and block floors and will give an improved airbourne noise performance from the system. It will also take account of any inadequacies in the sealing and grouting of the sub floor.

Other Acoustic Systems From Quiligotti

Other systems are available, that do not have the levelling facility described above. These systems are installed as floating floors and require a level, dry substrate. Due to the reduced system height ther are ideal for refurbishment. Please contact our technical team for further information.

Standards

The Approved Document E of the Building Regulations for England and Wales (Part H in Scotland, Part G in Northern Ireland) is designed to meet demands for improved acoustic insulation. All Quiligotti Acoustic flooring systems comply with, or exceed, the requirements of Part E and are test in accordance with BSEN 140.
